From Handmade Lures to MAGAS™
Before MAGAS™ became a patented lure system, the journey began with handmade lure work.
Like many lure makers, Yet Sun Low first explored lure making through curiosity. Early work included modifying lure colors, learning airbrush techniques, observing lure action, and understanding why certain designs attracted fish.
At that stage, the goal was simple: improve what already existed.
But after repeated experiences with snagging, the goal changed.
The question was no longer only about color.
It became about function.
How can a lure move naturally, attract fish, and reduce the risk of snagging around cover?
That question pushed the work from simple modification into invention.
In the early stages, prototypes were made by hand. Simple shapes were tested. Materials were studied. Balsa wood, soft silicone, 3D drawings, 3D printed molds, and real fishing trials all became part of the process.
Handmade lure development is different from simply drawing a nice shape on a computer.
A lure must swim.
It must balance.
It must cast.
It must sink or float correctly.
It must respond to rod movement.
It must survive fishing conditions.
And for MAGAS™, it also had to work with the Magnetic Anti-Snag System.
That made the challenge much harder.
A small change in weight can affect action.
A small change in body thickness can affect buoyancy.
A small change in hook position can affect performance.
A small change in internal structure can change the way the lure moves.
This is why MAGAS™ products are not just decorative soft silicone bodies. They are the result of repeated handwork, testing, failure, and adjustment.
The handmade process gives each lure its character. Small mold lines, seams, and surface marks may appear because each lure is hand-poured. These are not factory-perfect plastic products. They are practical fishing tools made with a development mindset.
From handmade experiments to patented lure design, MAGAS™ grew step by step.
It grew through curiosity.
It grew through frustration.
It grew through water testing.
Most importantly, it grew through the belief that a Malaysian lure maker could create something original for anglers around the world.
